Fernandes sparks Manchester United's comeback. Casemiro and Sesko shine as Carrick's resurgent side climbs the Premier League table with another crucial win.

The rebirth is a big word in English football, but it is starting to fall short of describing Manchester United's moment. With Michael Carrick again at the helm, the Red Devils have recovered competitiveness and character. The 2-1 victory against Crystal Palace not only confirmed the positive trend but catapulted them up to third place in the Premier League.

Carrick's impact, who already had a brief interim stint on the bench in 2021, now feels deeper. The team has six wins in its last seven matches and is looking at the standings from an area that seemed distant since the end of the 2022-23 season. Even so, the fight for the top remains demanding: the gap with City and Arsenal requires not lowering the pace.

The match, however, started uphill at Old Trafford. Palace was surprised by a set piece that ended with Maxence Lacroix's head. The center back rose to the challenge and beat the local resistance, momentarily silencing the crowd and sowing doubt in a United side that had entered the game cold.

Before halftime, Bruno Fernandes tried to equalize with a well-placed free kick, but Dean Henderson responded with a timely save. United dominated possession, though without the necessary depth to break the visitors' defensive order.

The turning point came in the second half. Lacroix, who had been a partial hero, turned villain after grabbing Matheus Cunha from behind inside the area. The action, reviewed by VAR, ended in a penalty and a red card. Bruno Fernandes took responsibility from the spot and did not miss, restoring parity and the emotional momentum to his side.

With a man advantage, United accelerated. Carrick ordered the lines pushed forward and loaded the area with greater insistence. The territorial dominance soon turned into a reward thanks to a play that combined precision and determination.

The second goal came from the feet of Bruno, the absolute brain of the night. His measured cross found Benjamin Sesko, who attacked the space with power and sealed the 2-1 with an unstoppable header. The Slovenian is going through a sweet moment and has become a key piece of the new offensive machinery.

The score could have been wider. Henderson avoided a rout with decisive saves against Casemiro and Amad Diallo in the final minutes. No more was needed. The final whistle confirmed another victory that strengthens Manchester United's Premier League candidacy and consolidates the Carrick effect as the great boost of this comeback in the standings.
