Despite a man advantage, Manchester United faltered. Casemiro shone as Newcastle snatched a late winner, ending Carrick's unbeaten streak.

Manchester United saw their unbeaten run under Michael Carrick's leadership come to an end this Monday, following a 2-1 defeat against Newcastle at St. James' Park, as part of Matchweek 29 of the Premier League.

Despite having a numerical advantage for much of the second half, the visitors could not capitalize on their dominance, and the hosts took all three points in the final minutes of the match.

From the start, the match was marked by a balanced fight. Both teams contested possession in midfield without giving away space. At the 34th minute, the match became more intense with the first yellow card for Newcastle's Jacob Ramsey, who was cautioned for a foul in midfield. This incident reflected the increase in aggressiveness in the game, with players pressing hard for control of the match.

Although United showed more offensive initiative, it was Newcastle who surprised first. At the 45+6 minute, Anthony converted a penalty in added time to open the scoring, but United responded quickly with a header from Casemiro at the 45+9 minute, making it 1-1 at halftime.

The teams went to the locker room with a sense of a fair draw, but with the feeling that either could take the victory in the second half.

The second half began with a key play: Newcastle were left with 10 players due to Ramsey's expulsion, who received his second yellow card at the 45th minute. With this numerical advantage, Manchester United was expected to take control of the match, but that was not the case.

Although Carrick's team dominated possession and constantly sought the winning goal, Newcastle's defense resisted effectively, frustrating the visitors' attempts.

As the minutes passed, the match became increasingly tense. Manchester United tried with substitutions and greater offensive pressure, but failed to capitalize. The Red Devils' opportunity peaked at the 80th minute, when they pressed with everything, but the home team stood firm, with a solid defense that contained the attacks. Newcastle, despite being a man down, managed to maintain the draw and looked for the counterattack at every opportunity.

Finally, in the last minutes of the match, Newcastle took advantage of a lapse in Manchester United's defense to score the winning goal around the 90th minute with a finish from William Osula, sealing the score at 2-1 and unleashing euphoria in the stadium. The defeat meant the end of Carrick's unbeaten run at the helm of United, leaving the team without vital points in their fight for UEFA Champions League qualification.
