Manchester United scouts closely watched two players at San Siro, eyeing potential summer transfer targets.

It certainly promises to be an interesting summer for Manchester United. It is still not confirmed who will be in the dugout for the 26/27 season, never mind which players could be brought in.

Despite the winter transfer window only recently ending, there have been plenty of rumours linking a number of players to Old Trafford. The likes of Elliot Anderson and Nico Schlotterbeck, amongst other high-profile names, have been mentioned for a possible move to United.

Well, we can also bring up another two names. Indeed, according to Italian outlet calciomercato.com, United had scouts at San Siro on Saturday night for the clash between Inter Milan and Juventus.

They report that the club was "monitoring" two players. Federico Dimarco of Inter, as well as Pierre Kalulu of Juventus.

Safe to say they'd have been impressed with what they saw from Dimarco. The Italian international created two big chances during the game, one of which was an assist for Inter's second goal.

That was certainly no fluke, either, as the 28-year-old has created 26 big chances in Serie A this season, the most of any player across the top five leagues. He is followed by Michael Olise of Bayern Munich with 21 and Lamine Yamal of Barcelona with 20, so you can see the level of quality he's in company with, and ultimately beating. However, a move to United would be slightly odd. Dimarco plays exclusively as a wing-back for Inter, and it seems the club is trying to move away from that in the post-Ruben Amorim era. There would be serious question marks over his defensive attributes when playing in a back four.

As for Kalulu, he was highly rated a few years ago, but has certainly regressed since swapping AC Milan for Juventus around 18 months ago. The French defender was actually sent off for two yellows in this game - but the consensus is it was poor officiating, and he did not deserve to be given his marching orders.

Profile-wise, it does at least make a bit more sense for a back four. That said, he would have also been perfect as the right central defender in a back three. Maybe United are planning for another three at the back manager? It would certainly be interesting to see.

In truth, a couple of niche links, it has to be said - but who knows what will happen.
