There is a consensus that Manchester United has the best supporters in the country. Old Trafford has the highest capacity (76k) comfortably in the Premier League, whilst nearly selling out every single week.
Although home games will, like any other ground in England's top flight, have several tourists, the hardcore United fans that go to every away game, up and down the country and across Europe (when the club actually qualify) are by far the best the country has to offer.
So, when you are someone who consistently takes annual leave to follow the club, who uses his hard-earned money on long trips, and so on, you are going to feel incredibly shafted when the Premier League moves the furthest away game of the season to a Friday night.
Indeed, as United's trip to AFC Bournemouth next month has been moved to Friday, the 20th of March, much to the inconvenience of the travelling faithful, many of whom will have to book another day off work for the game. The game will kick off at 20:00 GMT/15:00 ET.
Well, in recognition of this, United have decided to pay for coach travel for fans travelling down to the South Coast - as per Athletic journalist Andy Mitten.
He states that, due to Bournemouth's capacity of just 11,307, the Red Devils will only have an allocation of 1,299 - and that anyone with a ticket will be sent details on the coach arrangements, should they wish to take the club up on their generous offer.
In the article, Mitten notes that the reverse fixture was played on a Friday night, which was also inconvenient for the Bournemouth fans. However, due to their much smaller fanbase, they ended up returning over half of their 3,000 allocation for the game, which is understandable - particularly as the game was only a couple of weeks before Christmas.
All in all, a very nice thing for the club to do. It is not United's fault that the Premier League moved this game to a Friday night, so it is very good of them to make this offer for the fans.
As always, fans are never put first by the powers that be. It is all about money and viewings for them. There is no consideration for the people who pay the player's wages by spending their hard earned money on tickets, week in and week out.
Still, at least a consolation for them here with this offer.
