Michael Carrick has seemingly done a fantastic job with Manchester United since his takeover after the turn of the year, as Ruben Amorin was relieved of his duties by the club management.
Although Carrick has only been appointed till the end of the current campaign, after which the Reds would decide on their permanent manager for the next season, and the former United midfielder could also be in the minds of the board members when they decide on this situation, given the results he has given till now.
As it seems United are currently aiming for a top four spot and eventually qualify for Champions League football next season, and as it seems, Carrick's Man United are on the right track as they currently sit third in the Premier League with Aston Villa, Chelsea, and Liverpool breathing down their neck.
But the Reds' recent loss to Newcastle United has once again brought unexpected criticism of United's interim manager, and, as it seems, Carrick has failed to impress a few of his former teammates, with Garry Neville, Roy Keane, and Paul Scholes being pretty vocal against the current manager.
Scholes even went on to post a story on one of his social media accounts which read, 'Michael has definitely got something special about him... cos United have been c**p last four games... night', although now it has been deleted by the former United man from his account as it seemingly angered not only the fans but also another former Reds' player, Patrice Evra as he said, "I hope Paul Scholes' Instagram story is fake, I hope he was hacked".
Now, according to Nicky Butt, Scholes has seemingly explained his Instagram post to Butt as the former United legend talked about the situation to Paddy Power (h/t Daily Mail), saying, "Unless you know Scholesy personally and know what he's like as a character, you'd go, 'f***ing hell, that's a bit harsh.
"When I spoke to Scholesy, he said, 'Honest to God, I can't believe (the reaction)'. He's shocked and gutted about it. He really loves Michael Carrick as a lad, as a team-mate, as a coach. You won't get a better person, and, me included, we wish the best for Michael and hope he gets the job."
As it stands, Carrick's fate depends on the club's position in the league after the final game, as a top four finish could increase his chances of securing a permanent job at the club but even if United fail to secure a Champions League spots for the next season, one cannot simply write off the interim manager's role in bringing back the excitement at Old Trafford as the Reds are yet to loose at home since Carrick took charge as they look to tame an exciting Aston Villa side at the Theatre of Dreams this Sunday.
