With all the focus on a certain Nottingham Forest target for this transfer window, United appear to also be looking at one of his team mates in the East Midlands

Ahead of the summer transfer window, one of the players Manchester United have been linked with most is 23-year old Nottingham Forest and England midfielder, Elliot Anderson.

He has been one of the best in the league in his position, despite the struggles of his team, with the stats and eye test to match. Although there is interest from other clubs too, that saga will certainly be one to watch out for at the end of the season.

However, it appears he may not be the only player from the East Midlands club that United look at. Indeed, as journalist Peter Hall is reporting that central defender Murillo is considered a "top defensive target".

The Brazilian defender was absolutely key to Forest finishing in a European position last season, and was rewarded with a maiden Brazil national team call-up and a debut against Argentina in World Cup qualifying.

He has not been quite as good this season, but he has still had some good performances and made a crucial goal-saving block to deny a last minute Manchester City winner last week.

As well as being a good defender, Murillo is excellent on the ball. During his time at Forest, he has developed a reputation for carrying the ball long distances and getting shots off from the edge of the box.

Furthermore, he is also very quick and athletic. A very modern defender. His potential signing would allow United to defend higher up the pitch and keep teams penned in their own half.

At Forest, he has often partnered Nikola Milenkovic - a nuts and bolts defender who is excellent at defending his own box, whilst Murillo brings the speed and the ball playing ability.

Therefore, he could be a good partner to Harry Maguire at Old Trafford. He is unlikely to play with Lisandro Martinez, with both players being left footed.

Furthermore, as good as Martinez is, his injury record is just not something that can be relied on. Too many times he has been absent when United have needed him. It's a big shame, and not the fault of anybody, but that's just how it is. Unfortunately.

A few weeks ago, the 27-year old picked up a supposed calf strain, and has not returned since - with reports suggesting  he will miss the huge game against Aston Villa this weekend.

So, it is clear a left footed central defender is needed. Murillo certainly ticks a lot of boxes.
