We are in the midst of the January transfer market, and every club is in the process of acquiring new players or selling those they no longer need to other teams. One of the teams that has generated numerous rumors is Manchester United.
Manchester United has had a difficult start to the season so far. They invested a lot in the summer transfer market, and despite the investment, have had a difficult first part of the season, which culminated in the change of the coach.
A couple of days ago, the club fired Ruben Amorim and appointed an interim manager for the remainder of the season. The club's new coach is Michael Carrick, who has worked as an assistant coach at Manchester United but is also a legend of the club as a player.
This change of coach will also bring changes to the plans of the clubs for the players who will leave, those who will stay, and those who can come. One of these players who has had a lot of rumors about his departure has been the Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee.
In this 1 year and a half year, the performances of the Dutch striker haven’t been at the level where the fans expected when he first came. A lot of teams in this January transfer market were interested in his services, especially in Italy, and one of those was Roma.
The Italian team was very interested in getting him and giving Gasperini a new striker who could help the team a lot in the second part of the season. Roma has started this season well and is fighting to secure a place in the next UEFA Champions League.
The Manchester United striker spoke some days ago to the sporting director of Roma, Massara, in the Italian media: “For Zirkzee, Manchester United has closed any kind of discussion due to the change of their coach. They have stopped everything, and they don’t want to have any movements as the new coach settles in. And I think it’s almost impossible that they change their decision, but we have to wait and see until the end”.
So with the managerial change, the club has stopped any negotiations about the transfers of players and wants to give Carrick the possibility to evaluate every player and then decide what to do. So the future of Joshua is in doubt, and we need to wait and see if he will stay at the club until the end of the season.
