Ahead of a crucial summer rebuild at Old Trafford, Manchester United are very keen to offload two first team players as part of a new era at the club.

Ahead of the summer, Manchester United fans are anticipating a big transfer window, particularly if the club can secure UEFA Champions League football by finishing in the top five this season.

However, as we know. To bring players in, players must go the other way as part of the rebuild. To free up funds, to free up spaces in the squad. Even to free up space in the dressing room.

So, you'd imagine the club are keen to move on certain players as quickly as possible, so they can get key targets in before other clubs do.

Well, according to Samuel Luckhurst, United are planning to sell goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir in the summer.

He states that the Reds must recoup £18.8m for the Cameroonian, who has been on loan at Turkish side Trabzonspor this season, to ensure they avoid a loss under the Premier League's profit and sustainability rules.

Meanwhile, he reminds us that Onana's last appearance for the club was in the infamous defeat to Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round back in August, which feels quite fitting for his time at Old Trafford.

After a man of the match performance for Inter Milan in the 2023 Champions League, there was understandably much excitement when the then 27-year old signed for United that following summer. Like with many signings in the post Sir Alex Ferguson era, it really has just not worked out.

It's a bit of a different story with Bayindir. There was little expectation when he signed. It was a cheap, back up signing who in a best case scenario, would have been at a level to push for the number one slot. You can't deny he hasn't had his chances to show that, and in the most part, he failed to take them.

With Senne Lammens having an excellent debut season between the sticks, it is clear that is best both for Onana and Bayindir to move away and be the number one elsewhere, whilst United can recoup some funds.

Then, they will likely look to bring in an experienced number two to deputise for Lammens in case of an injury. Someone who could also pass on his wisdom to the Belgian during the infancy of his top level career. That would feel like the sensible option.

In his report, Luckhurst mentions Radek Vitek, who is having an impressive season on loan at Championship side Bristol City. However, at his age, a season on the bench feels suboptimal for his development.
