Relegation battle meets Top 4 charge. Can West Ham shock in-form United? Key absences could tip the scales.

This Tuesday, 10 February, West Ham and Manchester United face off in a match corresponding to matchday 26 of the 2025/26 Premier League. The match will be played at the Olympic Stadium in London, England.

The match pits very different objectives in the Premier League. West Ham, which opens the relegation zone, takes the field pressured by the need for three points to try to escape the bottom three. On the other side, Manchester United is going through a special moment and seeks another victory to remain firm in the fight for a Top 4 spot in the table.

The first team inside the relegation zone, West Ham, got an important breather last weekend by beating Burnley 2-0, as the visitor. The result took the Hammers to 23 points, just three behind Nottingham Forest, the first team outside the relegation zone.

A new victory, now against Manchester United, could lift the former club of Lucas Paqueta out of the bottom three as early as this matchday. Despite an irregular campaign throughout the championship, their recent moment is positive: they have three wins in their last four matches, signaling a reaction at the most delicate moment of the season.

Manchester United, for its part, is experiencing its best moment not only in 2026 but also compared to the last few seasons. Since Michael Carrick took over as manager, the Red Devils have a 100% effectiveness rate, with four wins in four matches.

Beyond the sporting importance, the match also brings an off-field curiosity. The game could mark the long-awaited haircut of Frank Ilett, a United fan who promised not to cut his hair until the club strings together five consecutive victories. The joke, started almost 500 days ago, gained traction among the fans and may finally come to an end if the Red Devils confirm their good form.

Absences and injuries:

  • Patrick Dorgu (thigh), Matthijs de Ligt (back), and Mason Mount (knock).
