The 19th round of the Premier League kicked off with Manchester United and Wolverhampton Wanderers opening activities at Old Trafford, on an afternoon filled with a lot of football, where they ultimately split the points.
The match would start somewhat choppily as, within two minutes, three fouls had already been called, in a duel where the home side, seeking a European competition spot, and the visitors, looking to escape the basement of the standings, defended strongly.
In the 14th minute came the first warning for the visitors. Benjamin Sesko would take a right-footed shot off a pass from Patrick Dorgu, but the ball would go wide of the right post defended by Portuguese goalkeeper Jose Sa. Later, Manuel Ugarte would try but would be caught offside.
Finally, before the half-hour mark, a ball recovered on the right wing by the home side would bear fruit in the first goal of the night, scored by Joshua Zirkzee, who would finish from the edge of the six-yard box.
However, in the final stretch of the first half, Wolverhampton would have not one, not two, but up to three close calls; Tulo Arokodare, Hugo Bueno, and Mateus Mane simply could not beat Senne Lammens.
Until Ladislav Krejci appeared. On a second-phase play from a corner kick, a flick-on from the defense, he met it with a precise, glancing header against the goalkeeper's momentum, and amid the turbulence of bodies in the six-yard box, the equalizer would finally be scored.
The first 45 minutes would end with parity, and the additional time would be indicated by the referee. For the second half, Manchester United would threaten around the 50th minute with a shot from Matheus Cunha that ended up going too high over the goal.
The home side would not stop insisting, and Diogo Dalot would have his chance with another headed attempt that went wide of the goal. Previously, Benjamin Sesko would try his luck, but the ball simply did not want to find the net as the minutes passed. In the dying moments, Dorgu scored, but the goal was disallowed.
