Absences plague PSG as French media clash over starting XIs. Key defensive and midfield spots remain hotly contested, creating lineup uncertainty.

Friday's press only partially agrees on the team lineups for the Auxerre vs. Paris Saint-Germain match. Due to the high number of absences, there is at least one doubt in every line.

Just three days after a cruel defeat in Lisbon against Sporting CP in the Champions League (1-2), PSG must travel again on Friday, this time much less far, as Paris goes to Auxerre for Matchday 19 of Ligue 1.

Luis Enrique faces a very high number of absences (Hakimi, Ruiz, Mendes, Neves, Lee, etc.) and records only one return in the person of Mbaye.

PSG's lineup to challenge Auxerre should logically rely on Chevalier in goal, with Safonov still injured, but the back four in front of him is hard to predict, and today's press is in fact very divided: Zaire-Emery, Zabarnyi, Beraldo, and Hernandez for Le Parisien; Zabarnyi, Marquinhos, Pach,o and Hernandez for L'Equipe. Hernandez and Zabarnyi seem to be the only certain starters.

In midfield, it's even complicated to name three players given all the absences in this area of the pitch, which makes Vitinha a practically certain starter as the holding midfielder. For the right-sided central midfielder role, L'Equipe sees Zaire-Emery, Le Parisien sees Doue, and it is indeed one of the most uncertain positions in the starting eleven. On the left, the same debate between Mayulu for the regional newspaper and Doue for the sports daily.

For once, it's on the attacking side that Luis Enrique has the most choices available, since, except for Lee, everyone is available. For Le Parisien, Kvaratskhelia will be on the right, the returning Ibrahim Mbaye on the left, and Goncalo Ramos in the center. L'Equipe also places the Portuguese player in that role as well as Kvara on the right, but rather announces Barcola on the left.

PSG's lineup vs. Auxerre, according to L'Equipe: Chevalier; Zabarnyi, Marquinhos, Pacho, Hernandez; Zaire-Emery, Vitinha, Doue; Kvaratskhelia, Ramos, Barcola.

On the Auxerre side, the lineup to challenge PSG should rely on a defensive 5-3-2 formation, very much in the habits of coach Christophe Pelissier.

In front of a Donovan Leon who has already been on fire against Paris in the past, the line from right to left should be composed of Sy, Senaya, Diomande, Akpa, and Oppegard. In midfield, captain Owusu will hold the center, and the two shuttling midfielders should be El-Azzouzi on the right and Danois on the left. Up front, the pair composed of Sinayoko and Mara is expected.
