Luis Enrique strategically positioned Desire Doue to directly challenge his brother on the field, a surprising tactical masterstroke captured on camera.

A small particularity of the recent Strasbourg vs. PSG match (1-2) was that the duel of the Doue brothers indeed took place on the pitch, with Parisian Desire directly facing Strasbourgeois Guela. A confrontation that was desired by Luis Enrique himself.

The recent Strasbourg vs. PSG saw the victory of the Parisians late in the match (2-1), Nuno Mendes sending a perfect header into the net ten minutes from the end to secure the three points. But this encounter was, once again, marked by the confrontation between the two Doue brothers, Parisian Desire and Strasbourgeois Guela. The first was not a starter, unlike the second, who even equalized for Racing in the first half, but the duel still took place nonetheless.

At halftime, Luis Enrique decided to take off the young Ibrahim Mbaye, who was not involved overall, to bring on his No. 14, who was a substitute for the third consecutive time as he strings together poor performances. But when he entered the match, Desire Doue did not position himself on the right like Mbaye, but on the left. Therefore, directly facing the Strasbourg right-back, one Guela Doue.

While Desire Doue has become a PSG starter for a year, holding the right side most of the time, this placement of the player on the left wing was intriguing, as it also shifted Bradley Barcola to the right side, even though the winger fairly clearly prefers to play on the left, as in the first half. And after the match, Luis Enrique had not commented on this choice to place Desire Doue opposite his brother.

It was finally one of the Ligue 1+ cameras that captured a scene explaining the placement of the two players. And it was precisely so he could go challenge his brother one-on-one that Desire played on the left side. As he was about to send him on, Parisian coach Luis Enrique whispered the final instructions to his player Desire Doue, including where he would play and why: "Left side, because you are more used to your brother, and Bradley on the right."

The choice, which might seem daring given that Desire is not really in a good period while Guela is in an excellent one, ultimately worked rather well. After a difficult start, with the Parisian being seriously shaken by the Strasbourgeois, the Parisian left winger began to make a fine difference, capped by a superb little dribble that left the older brother completely behind. And unlike his previous appearances, Doue played simply, without frills, and effectively overall.

While PSG's No. 14 could well regain his starting spot against OM on Sunday night, it will be interesting to see which side he plays on, given there is no third Doue brother in the Olympian squad. As for Luis Enrique's management, it is always full of surprises, with sometimes unexpected justifications.
