Enzo Fernandez hints at Chelsea exit, but PSG remains uncommitted.
Announced as being on PSG's radar since last January, Enzo Fernandez is negotiating a new contract with Chelsea, according to Fabrizio Romano, who assures there is nothing concrete between the Argentine and the Parisian club.
On Jan. 15, L'Equipe revealed that PSG had marked Enzo Fernandez's name as a target for next summer. Two days later, the Catalan press revealed that another Fernandez, Dro, was in PSG's sights. That transfer ultimately materialized a few days later, with Paris paying 8 million euros to snatch the young attacking midfielder from Barcelona.
In recent days, on the sidelines of the Champions League round of 16 match between PSG and Chelsea, L'Equipe again mentioned Paris' interest in the Blues' Argentine midfielder, who has a controversial reputation, explaining that he might have desires to leave at the end of the season, despite a contract running until 2032.
Asked about his future after Chelsea's elimination by PSG last week, Enzo Fernandez was very vague: "Will I stay at Chelsea? I don't know," he responded to ESPN Argentina. "There are eight matches left and the FA Cup. Then there's the World Cup, and after that we'll see."
According to the latest information from Fabrizio Romano, a summer departure for Enzo Fernandez is a possibility, but the Italian journalist also reports that the Argentine is discussing a new contract and salary with Chelsea. For the moment, no agreement has been reached between the parties, and everything remains open. But in the event of a departure, a transfer for Enzo Fernandez would be very expensive, likely above 100 million euros.
Does PSG really want to pursue the 2022 World Cup champion? According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG is not working on this matter and is very happy with its midfield, which it additionally reinforced this winter by recruiting the young and promising Dro Fernandez, 18, who scored his first Ligue 1 goal Saturday in Nice.
