Kylian Mbappe congratulated Desire Doue for winning the 2025 Golden Boy award, the trophy that rewards the best player under 21 playing in Europe. The captain of the French national team also wished his international teammate a good and speedy recovery.
Kylian Mbappe and Desire Doue have never played together at Paris Saint-Germain since the former left when the latter arrived, but the two men have been teammates since last March with the French national team, dating from the former Rennes player's first national team call-up against Croatia in the Nations League.
On Instagram, Mbappe congratulated Doue for winning the 2025 Golden Boy award, a trophy he himself had won in 2017, and wished him a prompt recovery after his right thigh injury sustained on October 29 in Lorient.
"Congratulations, superstar Desire Doue! Entirely deserved! Enjoy it, get well soon, and come back to us quickly," posted the captain of Les Bleus in a story, who therefore hopes to be able to count on a fully fit Desire Doue in 2026, with the World Cup in sight.
According to the latest news, Doue could play again before the end of 2025 with Paris Saint-Germain, potentially on December 17 for the final of the Intercontinental Cup, with recent reports suggesting it will be that way.
On Monday, in the pages of Tuttosport, Doue had mentioned Mbappe when sharing his pride at having won this prestigious individual trophy: "It is an honor to be part of this list and to be mentioned alongside some of the biggest names in soccer. The players who have won this award, like Messi, Aguero, Haaland, and Mbappe, are all exceptional players who have had, or are currently having, incredible careers and who inspire me every day. So it is a great source of pride."
Absent since the end of October, Desire Doue could well make his return before the end of the calendar year, with the possibility of him participating in Paris Saint-Germain's last three matches if all goes well.
In recent weeks, reports had filtered through that Desire Doue could well be ready for the final of the Intercontinental Cup in Qatar on Wednesday, December 17. The prospect of seeing him participate in this match, which Paris Saint-Germain will play for the first time, seems increasingly real, as confirmed by L'Equipe on Tuesday evening.
