Luis Enrique cautions patience for the €8M signing of Dro Fernandez, highlighting his quality while emphasizing the need for calm adaptation, despite recent rapid debuts.

The only winter signing, young midfielder Dro Fernandez, has seen his coach, Luis Enrique, strongly temper expectations regarding him. A debut in the short term is not even a certainty.

Transferred for around €8 million from FC Barcelona, young midfielder Dro Fernandez could make his debut with Paris Saint-Germain this Sunday during the match at Strasbourg.

The Spaniard, 18, is now qualified, unlike for the match against Newcastle, and he has been training with the first team since the beginning of the week. With Fabian Ruiz absent, there is even a small spot to take in PSG's starting eleven at Strasbourg.

But listening to Luis Enrique this Saturday in front of the press, it will likely be necessary to wait a bit before seeing the Spanish midfielder in PSG colors.

Luis Enrique Urges Patience With PSG's New €8M Signing Dro Fernandez

It is not the player's quality that is being questioned by the Parisian coach, as he assured that Dro met all of Paris's recruitment criteria: "I must add the difficulty we have in finding players with the quality to be in our team. Dro has that quality, technical and physical."

But Dro remains a "very young" player. "We have a lot of confidence in the future and in this type of player, but we must be calm. He has just arrived, and we have the tranquility to see his adaptation, to see his level. Calm. It is also important to have confidence in young players, but we must give them that confidence at the right moments. And when that moment will be, I do not know."

While Luis Enrique remains very cautious regarding the player, it must be recalled that he has never hesitated to use his new signings very quickly. Goncalo Ramos started in Ligue 1 just days after his arrival, same for Lucas Chevalier in the European Super Cup.

Lucas Beraldo was an even more striking case, as the Brazilian, 20, and having just arrived from Brazil, made his debut just a few days later during the Champions Trophy. So Dro has every chance, despite his coach's caution with the press.
