Ballon d'Or winner's recent PSG form sparks criticism amid stalled contract talks and player's high demands.
For some time now, the expectations are high around Ousmane Dembele. The 28-year-old forward, crowned Ballon d'Or last September, however, does not always meet the expectations placed on him at Paris Saint-Germain.
A journalist, therefore, did not miss the chance to reprimand the 2018 world champion live on the radio.
Since being crowned the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner, Ousmane Dembele is naturally expected to deliver at PSG. Expectations are high around the 28-year-old attacker, whose performances have been rather mixed lately.
Plagued by some physical issues in the first half of the season, the 2018 world champion is clearly not performing at the same level as during the 2024-25 campaign. A journalist then allowed himself to sharply reprimand him live on the radio.
"You Have Responsibilities"
"That is not the attitude of a leader. Yes, Ousmane, you are Ballon d'Or, no problem, you have a big salary, but you know what? You have responsibilities. And your responsibilities are to step up as you did against Auxerre, but also to step up against Strasbourg. It was a joke last night [against Strasbourg]," said Bruno Salomon on France Bleu's microphone after PSG's narrow victory over RC Strasbourg last Sunday.
Negotiations Are at a Standstill With PSG for His Contract Extension
It must be said that Ousmane Dembele may have his mind occupied by something other than his mere on-field performances. For several weeks now, negotiations with PSG for his contract extension have been at a standstill.
The capital club would like to extend its commitment beyond June 2028. But for now, the 2025 Ballon d'Or winner's demands would be far too high compared to what the Rouge-et-Bleu are willing to offer him. It remains to be seen if the positions of the two parties can come closer together quickly.
