Luis Enrique reveals PSG's secret weapon for Champions League glory: an unshakeable ability to endure and overcome intense pressure.
After Paris Saint-Germain's very mediocre draw against Monaco (2-2), a far from delighted Luis Enrique answered the broadcaster's questions. But the Parisian coach highlighted his team's ability to suffer, and even a lot.
PSG has qualified. Did you have a good evening tonight? Did you like what you saw?
"Is that a trick question?"
No, we call it an open question.
"Open? Ok. No, I don't like it when there's suffering of this level. I don't like it, but that's football. We had an incredible Champions League schedule, and we continued in the playoffs against Monaco, which is a real team. It's a good team. There is suffering in the Champions League; you have to accept it. I think in the first half we were very imprecise, but on the contrary, in the second half, we controlled the whole match, we scored the two goals, it was the perfect result. But in the last action, we suffered another goal, and it changed. It was dangerous. But we're happy. We know that to continue in the Champions, to win the Champions, you have to have suffering. And we are experts at that."
We wondered before the match. Can Paris rediscover that level from last season? Does everyone still think about that? For you, is it still possible?
"You have to ask that question to our opponents. You'll see what they answer you."
Is it difficult?
"No, that it's very, very, very difficult to play against us. Ask them the question!"
