Seven key PSG players are sidelined, including Hakimi and Ruiz, jeopardizing their pursuit of the top spot in a crucial Ligue 1 encounter.

Paris Saint-Germain released its traditional medical update on the eve of its trip to Auxerre (Matchday 19 of Ligue 1), and no fewer than seven players are listed, including Achraf Hakimi and Fabian Ruiz. They will therefore miss the Auxerre vs. PSG match on Friday.

PSG will kick off Ligue 1's Matchday 19 on Friday night away to Auxerre with the ambition of winning to temporarily move back ahead of RC Lens, which will play at Marseille on Saturday night.

A draw would also be enough for PSG since it trails Lens by only one point and has a superior goal differential, but the idea is obviously not to share the points with the 17th-place team in Ligue 1. But Paris will travel to the Yonne region severely hampered.

PSG Hit With 7 Absences For Crucial Auxerre Match

For this Auxerre-PSG match, Luis Enrique will again be without his long-term injured players Matvey Safonov and Quentin Ndjantou, who are still in the recovery phase. The Russian goalkeeper is doing "adapted work," while the young Parisian midfielder "continues his treatment protocol."

Nothing very new concerning them, unfortunately, given that the goalkeeper has already been absent for five weeks.

As revealed by Luis Enrique on Tuesday night after the defeat against Sporting, Fabian Ruiz returned injured from Lisbon and is suffering from a "knock to the left knee," a lesser evil, therefore, but a short-term concern since the Spanish midfielder is already ruled out for Auxerre-PSG as he "will remain in treatment through the end of the week."

Finally, Achraf Hakimi is also in the medical report. He returned on Wednesday from Morocco after losing the Africa Cup of Nations final against Senegal last Sunday.

Luis Enrique had mentioned a "minor physical problem" earlier Thursday in a news conference, and the starting right back is joined on the injury list by his left-wing counterpart, Nuno Mendes: "Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes will do indoor work through the end of the week."

The bad news does not stop there, as even two players who have come out of the treatment room will not be available for this Auxerre-PSG match.

Indeed, Lee Kang-in is still listed in the medical report – he injured his left thigh against Flamengo on Dec. 17 – as is João Neves, not fully recovered from the muscle issue that caused him to miss the last two matches against Lille and Sporting: "Lee Kang-In and Joao Neves continue adapted work."

A rare bit of good news amid this avalanche of absences: Ibrahim Mbaye has returned from the Africa Cup of Nations and is fully operational. He could even start Friday night.
