Already revealed by the French press in early January, Paris Saint-Germain's interest in Anisio Cabral is confirmed in Portugal. But according to the local press, the player Jose Mourinho just compared to Didier Drogba, is on the verge of extending with Benfica with a new, very high release clause.
Portuguese football has its new offensive phenomenon, and as a symbol, it is Jose Mourinho who is bringing him through at Benfica. Crowned European champion and U17 world champion in 2025, Anisio Cabral is a left-footed center forward about to turn 18 (this Sunday, Feb. 15) and stands 1.87 meters.
Quick, powerful, and cool in front of the goal, Anisio Cabral finished as the second top scorer of the last U17 World Cup with seven goals, including the decisive goal in the final against Austria. Previously used in the Youth League, Anisio Cabral was launched into the first team by Jose Mourinho on Jan. 25 against CF Estrela Amadora, Eddy Doue's team.
Coming on in the 83rd minute in place of Vangelis Pavlidis, Anisio Cabral scored his first professional goal a minute later with a nice header. Last weekend, with Benfica held to a draw at home by Santa Clara, Mourinho brought him on in the 85th minute, and on his first touch, a few seconds later, he scored the winning goal with a magnificent header, once again.
After the match, Mourinho was obviously delighted, but also very protective: "The potential is there. He has many things very similar to a player I coached, really very similar. With his back to goal, he reminds me of Drogba ... except that Drogba, on five crosses, scored five goals with his head."
Because, despite his two-headed goals as a professional, in only 20 minutes played, Cabral can still improve in this area, according to the Special One: "You will laugh and call me an idiot, but his aerial game is not good. With the physique he has, this is something he absolutely must work on." A way, no doubt, for Mourinho not to burn his gem's wings: "We will manage him intelligently, like the other young players who have joined the first team. Continue to work, continue to progress," added the Lisbon coach.
REUTERSLast January, L'Equipe and Le Parisien had revealed that Luis Campos had his eye on Anisio Cabral, currently under contract in Lisbon until 2027 with a release clause set at €30 million, according to O Jogo. But as revealed by Record in early February, Benfica has already reached an agreement with its promising attacker to extend his contract until 2031, with a significant salary increase, but not only that.
According to O Jogo, Anisio Cabral's release clause will go from 30 to more than €60 million, while A Bola even mentions €80 million. The extension is expected to be made official shortly after the player's 18th birthday this Sunday, Feb. 15, and PSG is already aware of the situation.
Thus, O Jogo claims that PSG has decided not to undertake any concrete steps to secure the services of the attacker and that it is currently focusing only on gathering information about him. If Cabral continues to score goals every time Mourinho gives him minutes, he should quickly excite the transfer market. No doubt PSG will be nearby, especially if Goncalo Ramos leaves the club in the medium term. According to Media Foot, Manchester United is also interested in the young player.
