A mayoral shift could unlock the Parc des Princes for PSG, reigniting stadium ownership dreams and keeping the club in Paris.

In a little more than one month, Paris will have a new mayor. A candidate for Mayor of Paris, Rachida Dati, would be open to selling the Parc des Princes to Paris Saint-Germain.

Wishing to become the owner of its stadium, PSG negotiated for many years with the Paris Mayor's office to buy the Parc des Princes.

But the latter did not want to hear of this possibility. With this refusal, the capital's club turned to places where it could build its own stadium.

Two towns were chosen for this: Poissy, where it owns its training center, and Massy. But the possibility of remaining at the Parc des Princes is not yet off the table. In March, municipal elections will take place.

PSG Receives Major Boost in Bid to Buy Parc des Princes

Anne Hidalgo did not run for re-election. Some candidates explain that they would be in favor of selling the Parc des Princes to PSG. This is the case for Rachida Dati.

"I will keep PSG in Paris, and will create a modern, major sports city project to globally showcase Parisian sports. I will negotiate the sale of the Parc des Princes to PSG in exchange for the creation of a PSG park sports and cultural village around the stadium, in connection with the area's sports associations, so that the club stays in Paris and that this benefits Parisians," states Rachida Dati in her program, in excerpts revealed by Le Parisien.

Two other candidates for Mayor of Paris also wish to see PSG remain at the Parc des Princes. "We are convinced that PSG must continue to write its history at the Parc des Princes and at the Porte de Saint-Cloud," states Emmanuel Grégoire. Finally, Pierre-Yves Bournazel had explained at the end of last year: "With me, PSG will stay at the Parc des Princes."
