In addition to regaining first place in the overall Ligue 1 standings from Lens on the 19th matchday, Paris Saint-Germain snatched another symbolic ranking from the Blood and Gold this weekend.
Wedged between two very important Champions League matchdays, the 19th matchday of Ligue 1 was very profitable for PSG, which regained first place in the overall standings thanks to its 1-0 victory at Auxerre on Friday night, combined with Lens's 3-1 loss at Marseille on Saturday at the Velodrome.
This Monday morning, PSG leads the league standings with 45 points, which is 2 more than Lens, which ended its run of 8 consecutive Ligue 1 victories, and 7 more than OM, which stays in contention thanks to its weekend win, but remains quite far from first place.
This weekend, PSG also snatched another first place from Lens, that of the best defense ranking. Despite a reshuffled defense, PSG recorded a second consecutive clean sheet in the league at Auxerre, something it had not done since matchdays 1 and 2 and its 1-0 victories against Nantes and then Angers.
Having conceded 15 goals after 19 matchdays, PSG possesses the best defense in Ligue 1, as Lens, which conceded 3 goals at Marseille on Saturday, has now conceded 16 in the league since the start of the season.
Third in the overall standings, OM has conceded 20 goals in Ligue 1 this season (like Lyon), but possesses the best attack in the league with 44 goals scored, three more than PSG.
An interesting piece of information: PSG has only two points fewer than last season after 19 matchdays, but the same number of victories (14).
In terms of goal difference, the 2025/26 PSG is 8 goals behind last season's team in Ligue 1 (41 goals scored this season, 49 at the same time last season), but has a better defense (15 goals conceded this season, 17 last season).
PSG, however, has much less of a gap over the competition than last year, as after 19 matchdays, PSG therefore has only 2 points more than Lens, whereas it had a 10-point lead over OM a year ago.
