Key lineup changes loom as PSG navigates a packed schedule. Discover the predicted starting XI facing Paris FC in this crucial Coupe de France clash.
On the eve of the Coupe de France Round of 16 match between the two clubs, it is already possible to predict the Paris Saint-Germain vs. Paris FC lineups that will face off on Monday. A certain amount of squad rotation is expected from PSG's side.
After an easy entry into the competition against Vendée Fontenay Foot (4-0), PSG has a much more serious obstacle on its path in the Coupe de France with this round of 16 match against Paris FC. In the league, the two capital clubs have just faced each other, and the derby went, narrowly, to the real club of Paris (2-1).
But in the Cup, everything is reset to zero, especially since the French Superchampions had to make an express round trip to Kuwait to secure a title.
PSG vs. Paris FC: Predicted Lineups for the Coupe de France
On PSG's side, the lineup against Paris FC will inevitably be alternative, given how dense the January schedule is. Between this match and the one against Lille the following Friday, two mixed teams of starters and substitutes are expected to involve everyone and manage the squad's workload.
While Chevalier is likely to start in goal again, changes are expected in defense, with a probable start for Zabarnyi. Zaïre-Emery may have to play again as well, while the final spot is between Pacho and Beraldo, with the former having the edge. With Hernandez ruled out, Nuno Mendes is expected to start on the left side.
In midfield, the absences of Lee, Ndjantou, and Hakimi (which lock Zaïre-Emery in defense) are keenly felt, and solutions are scarce.
There is only one, named Mayulu, and the young Parisian should replace one member of the starting trio, more likely Ruiz or Neves than Vitinha.
The Spaniard seems to be struggling to kick-start his year and could be rested at kickoff. Another solution is to move Doué back into midfield to give a member of the starting trio a break.
In attack, however, there are options, with five players available for three positions. After being on the bench against Marseille, Barcola is expected to start this time, probably on the right wing since Kvaratskhelia is expected to play on the left.
Up front, Dembélé and Ramos are competing, but the Portuguese may have earned more playing time with his latest decisive goal, and Luis Enrique's highly laudatory comments point in that direction.
PSG's predicted lineup vs. Paris FC: Chevalier - Zaïre-Emery, Zabarnyi, Pacho (or Beraldo), Mendes - Neves, Vitinha, Mayulu - Barcola, Ramos, Kvaratskhelia.
Despite last week's defeat at the Parc des Princes, Paris FC, the author of a convincing performance, relied on a five-man defense that worked well, with the visitors not conceding many clear-cut chances.
This system could be used again based on coach Stéphane Gilli's comments to the press this Saturday, even though the Parisian coach tried to hide his intentions as much as possible.
One unknown is certainly the right wing-back position, which left-footed Nhoa Sangui had to occupy due to absences. Hamari Traoré will have just returned from the Africa Cup of Nations, but Alakouch could be reinstated in that role.
In attack, Ikoné was completely off the pace in the last PSG vs. PFC match and stands a good chance of not being selected again alongside Geubbels and Gory, with Cafaro as the primary candidate and Kebbal, just back from AFCON, as a serious outsider. In goal, Nkambadio should take Trapp's place for this Coupe de France match.
Paris FC's predicted lineup vs. PSG: Nkambadio - Sangui (or H. Traoré), Mbow, Otavio, Kolodziejczak, De Smet (or Ollila) - M. Lopez, Camara - Cafaro, Geubbels, Gory.
