Ahead of Sunday night's Strasbourg vs. Paris Saint-Germain match, four players are already confirmed absent for this key 20th-round Ligue one clash, but several others are doubtful or very doubtful. Here is the situation two days before the match.
After being held to a draw by Newcastle (1-1) on Wednesday night, PSG travels to Strasbourg this Sunday for what will already be its eighth match of the 2026 calendar year. This Strasbourg vs. PSG clash will conclude the 20th round of Ligue one and will pit two teams that currently occupy seventh place with 30 points and first place with 45 points, respectively, ahead of this round. However, PSG could be in second place by the time its match in Alsace kicks off if RC Lens, currently second with 43 points, wins at home against Le Havre on Friday night.
Three days before Strasbourg vs. PSG, at least two absentees are confirmed for the Parisian side, including Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who unfortunately injured his right ankle against Newcastle and will be out for between eight and 10 days according to the latest medical update from PSG. Recently on an individual return-to-play protocol but back in team training on Thursday, Quentin Ndjantou will likely miss the trip to Alsace this Sunday after two months out, but the young midfielder is on the right track.
However, PSG, which has no suspended players for this match, also has two other doubtful players. Lee Kang-in returned to team training this week but was not fit enough for Wednesday night's match against Newcastle. Fabian Ruiz, who suffered a knee injury last week against Sporting CP and returned to training on Tuesday, was also unavailable against the Magpies. Will he be back this Sunday in Alsace?
On the Strasbourg side, which recently replaced Liam Rosenior with Gary O'Neil, things are looking up as the club is on a run of three consecutive wins under its new coach. However, Racing will have a few absences against PSG, including its talented Argentine midfielder Valentin Barco, who is suspended after receiving a yellow card against Metz in the 18th round.
Barco was under threat of a suspension due to a suspended sentence revocation after being previously suspended for a red card received against Lens in November. According to reports, he was not briefed by his club about the risk of suspension hanging over him in case of a yellow card since his return to competition. "He was not warned," his entourage fumed to L'Equipe. "It is not professional from the club and especially from Kader Mangane (Racing's sporting coordinator). That's his job! This is really nonsense."
The Alsatian club defended itself with difficulty, claiming the information had been relayed but was probably misunderstood. A key assist provider in the 3-3 draw at Parc des Princes earlier this season, Barco will therefore be absent for the return match, as will Polish defensive midfielder Maxi Oyedele, still troubled by an adductor issue. Young Ecuadorian winger Kendry Paez, who was on loan from Chelsea since the start of the season, is on the verge of a loan move to River Plate and will also not be there on Sunday.
Finally, Racing has two doubtful players, including its Dutch striker Emmanuel Emegha, absent since late November due to a thigh injury. The future Chelsea player, however, returned to training on Tuesday and is expected to make his big return to competition on Sunday; he also missed the first leg due to injury. The second doubtful Alsatian is young French midfielder Mathis Amougou, 20, who suffered an ankle injury against Avranches in the Coupe de France on Jan. 10. He missed Racing's two subsequent matches but could return this Sunday against PSG.
