It was far from riveting, but England drew 1-1 with Uruguay at Wembley in a game that hardly inspired ahead of the World Cup.

Thomas Tuchel opted for a very left field selection, with Adam Wharton not starting, despite both Elliot Anderson and Declan Rice being included in the 11 players who were given the week off.

Wharton did come on at half time and played a steady hand to earn his fourth cap for England.

He will be hoping for more minutes against Japan next week, though may again have to settle for a spot on the bench with both Rice and Anderson back in the frame.
