Opposition View: Brighton v Liverpool

We spoke to Ryan, Brighton expert from TalkSeagulls & Roundtable Brighton and this is what he had to say about our upcoming game between Brighton & Liverpool: Brighton have had a quite unbelievable start to the season, and not many fans would have seen this coming. The Seagulls will be looking to continue as they last left off in their 5-0 over Crystal Palace at the Amex. With that said, things are likely to be different this time. Liverpool away is a huge change in atmosphere to a home game against a poor Palace side. The Reds will be aiming to compete at the top end of the Premier League, but their record at home and overall style of play could allow for an interesting game. If Brighton can continue their high pressing and intelligent performances, then consider me excited. If we can take the game to Liverpool and keep them on the back foot, there’s a reasonable possibility of another win. While the 0-0 at Jablonec will look bad on paper, I wouldn’t read too much into it until Albion play in the league again. I can comfortably see a close game, especially with Yankuba Minteh returning to the side (potentially). Minteh has been linked with a move to the Reds over the summer, and January could allow for a move. The Gambian has missed the start of the season with a leg injury sustained during pre season. Albion have coped fine without him, albeit with a change in game plan. They haven’t used traditional take on wingers, but have found joy in box crashing ball strikers instead… see Maxim De Cuyper and Diego Gomez as great examples. Overall, it’ll be a close game. Depending on how Albion set up and Liverpool start, I could feasibly see another win. My prediction is Liverpool 2-3 Albion.
