Man Utd Should Consider Move For Amadou Onana

With United's pursuit of Mateus Fernandes now in doubt due to strong competition from other clubs, Amadou Onana is a player United should definitely be looking at.
Elliot Anderson, United's top target, is bound for Manchester City. Sandro Tonali was of serious interest to United a few months ago, but United's interest has seemingly faded due to how much he would cost, both in terms of transfer fees and wages. Aurélien Tchouaméni is a deal that still seems somewhat possible, but still regarded as unlikely.
With the list of options dwindling, Onana could become a very good option. It is probably unlikely due to the signing of Ederson. They both offer incredible athleticism and primarily shine out-of-possession, but Onana is quite solid technically, and more importantly, he is tall and dominant in the air. With Casemiro leaving, United need to sign an aerially dominant midfielder, especially if Lisandro Martinez is to play the majority of games.
United's move for Fernandes shows that they are prioritising more midfielders who are very good on the ball, but Onana would complement Kobbie Mainoo very well. In an ideal world, Fernandes and Onana, plus Ederson, obviously, would make for an excellent midfield rebuild. Whether United have the budget for that is unknown, however. West Ham want £85 million for Fernandes, and Villa would likely demand a significant fee for Onana, if they are even open to entertaining a sale.
Onana was a player that United should've signed when he was at Everton. Instead, United signed Manuel Ugarte.
