SullyTalkz Exclusive: Following a sensational run of ten wins in fifteen games, Old Trafford chiefs are set to reward the interim boss, Michael Carrick, with an extended stay through 2028.

Michael Carrick to be offered two-year contract!

Manchester United are set to offer Michael Carrick the chance to continue coaching the first team following their brilliant form in the last five months.

After Rúben Amorim was fired at the beginning of January, Darren Fletcher took temporary charge before Carrick was appointed as head coach until the end of the season.

Since then, the club have played 15 fixtures under the former midfielder, winning ten, drawing three, and losing just twice in that time, with the club set to finish third in the league.

The side's final two games this campaign include a home fixture against Nottingham Forest, before the campaign concludes with an away fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Sources: Carrick to be offered two-year contract

News broke earlier this week that club CEO Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox are set to recommend to co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe that Carrick be retained next season.

There has been much speculation among fans and pundits alike surrounding the length of the possible deal.

Roundtable can exclusively reveal that United plan to offer the former midfielder an initial two-year contract until June 2028, following his side's fantastic form.

It is also understood that this contract will include an option to extend his deal by a further campaign, although negotiations are expected to follow before a final agreement is sealed.

Roundtable understands that Carrick has already been involved in the recruitment process ahead of this summer and has given his views on the transfer strategy for the 2026 window.

What are United's plans this summer

Regardless of who is appointed as the club's next head coach, there is a lot of work to be done regarding who is brought in this summer.

Roundtable reported earlier this month that the club are ramping up their search for new midfielders amid Casemiro's pending departure and the possible sale of Manuel Ugarte.

It is thought that West Ham midfielder Mateus Fernandes is creeping up the club's midfield shortlist, although Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson remains their dream option for the No. 6 position.

Anderson is also on the radar of Manchester City, who are currently seen as clear leaders in the race for the player that Forest rate at over £100 million. That fee alone makes any transfer possible for United hard.

The club are eyeing up a possible move for Atalanta's Ederson, who is appreciated by Wilcox, while United remain interested in Brighton's Carlos Baleba despite his mixed form this campaign.

It has also been reported elsewhere that the club are looking to bolster their left flank, with Roundtable understanding that Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall has featured prominently in recruitment meetings.
