Dawn Staley weighed in on the ongoing WNBA CBA negotiations with a strong message about leverage and timing.
“I've been a player & the game is in high demand. If you don't fight for something right now, you're gonna settle for anything in the future. I think we'll have a season & I believe it's gonna start on time. But I don't have a dog in the fight.”
She’s essentially saying this is the moment for players to push — while interest, media rights value and overall demand for the women’s game are rising.
At the same time, she expressed confidence the season will start on time, signaling belief that both sides will ultimately find common ground.
So here’s the question:
Do you agree with Staley’s stance that now is the time to fight for more — even if it risks tension in negotiations?
Or do you think there’s a smarter middle ground given the league’s financial realities?
Agree or disagree — and why?
