Chennedy Carter remains one of the most polarizing free agents in the WNBA, and her situation continues to spark debate among fans.

Drafted fourth overall in 2020 out of Texas A&M, Carter entered the league with the reputation of being an elite scorer and instant-offense guard. Her early career showed flashes of that promise, including an All-Rookie Team selection, but her time with the Atlanta Dream and later the Los Angeles Sparks was overshadowed by conduct-related issues, suspensions, and concerns about chemistry. Those chapters shaped how teams around the league came to view her, fairly or not.

Then came 2024. Signed to a training camp deal by the Chicago Sky, Carter delivered the most productive season of her career, averaging 17.5 points per game and showing the kind of shot creation and late-game scoring that few guards in the league possess. On pure basketball merit, it was a reminder of why she was drafted so high in the first place. Yet even during that breakout year, moments like the highly scrutinized foul involving Caitlin Clark kept her in the spotlight for reasons beyond box scores.

Now, despite that strong 2024 season, Carter went unsigned for 2025.

So here’s the question for fans.

Should a WNBA team give Chennedy Carter another opportunity based on her proven ability to score at a high level? After a full season away from the league, is her 2024 season enough to justify a fresh start, especially for a team in need of offensive punch? Or do the past issues and questions about fit outweigh the upside in a league where every roster spot is precious?

Where do you stand on Carter’s future in the WNBA?
