The Pittsburgh Steelers got a little worried as quarterback Aaron Rodgers exited in the third quarter against the Buffalo Bills.
Rodgers is playing through a fractured left wrist and left after being sacked by Joey Bosa. Bosa's strip sack resulted in a touchdown for the Bills, but left Rodgers' nose with a cut.
The 41-year-old quarterback exited the game for a drive, with Mason Rudolph coming in. Rudolph was not effective as he threw an interception.
On the next drive, Rodgers returned with tape over the cut on his nose. Pittsburgh's offense didn't have any more success, but having Rodgers return gives them a shot.
Buffalo leads 23-7 early in the fourth quarter in what has been a defensive clash. Rodgers has completed just six of 14 passes for 54 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions.
The four-time MVP will need to spark the Steelers down the stretch as every game is crucial on their playoff push.
Pittsburgh holds the lead in the AFC North at 6-5, but if they lose, will fall back into a tie with the 6-6 Baltimore Ravens.
Rodgers has been a solid quarterback for the Steelers this season. He has completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 1,969 yards, 19 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Pittsburgh's offense has been inconsistent as they lack a consistent receiving threat outside of DK Metcalf and running back Kenneth Gainwell.
Metcalf has been solid for the Steelers, hauling in 42 receptions for 573 yards and five touchdowns. Gainwell has been very impactful as a pass catcher out of the backfield, with 42 receptions for 234 yards and two touchdowns.
The Steelers will need to get more out of guys like Darnell Washington, Calvin Austin III, and Roman Wilson.
Pittsburgh has two matchups against the Ravens down the stretch, which will likely determine who wins the division.
Rodgers is dealing with a painful injury, but he is going to continue to play through it. As the Steelers look to make a playoff push, they will need the weapons around him to step up and make it easier on the soon-to-be 42-year-old.
