The Pittsburgh Steelers have been connected to a rather polarizing replacement for quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Aaron Rodgers turned back the clock for the Pittsburgh Steelers in Sunday's win over the Baltimore Ravens, going 23-for-34 with 284 yards and a touchdown.

However, with Rodgers being 41 years old and showing obvious signs of decline, the Steelers would almost certainly have to find a replacement during the offseason.

The problem is that Pittsburgh will be too good to land a high enough draft pick to select one of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 NFL Draft, so the Steelers may have to improvise.

Jacob Infante of Pro Football Network actually has Pittsburgh taking as signal-caller in the second round, as he projected the Steelers to nab South Carolina Gamecocks quarterback LaNorris Sellers with the 45th overall pick in April.

"LaNorris Sellers is a big-bodied QB with a rocket arm, tremendous athleticism, and great sack avoidance," Infante wrote. "A lack of growth in terms of accuracy and full-field progression ability hurts him, but he’s an absurdly talented athlete worth gambling on, especially if you’re lacking a long-term answer at the position like the Steelers are."

Sellers was regarded as a potential top-five pick heading into 2025 and was initially viewed as a potential Heisman Trophy candidate, but things did not turn out that way for him.

The 20-year-old threw for 2,437 yards, 13 touchdowns and eight interceptions while completing 60.8 percent of his passes. He also rushed for 270 yards and five scores.

It was a rather significant step back for Sellers, who totaled 2,534 yards, 18 touchdowns and seven picks while completing 65.6 percent of his passes and racking up 674 yards and seven scores as a rusher in 2024.

To be fair, South Carolina in general was a major disappointment in 2025, as the Gamecocks went just 4-8, but Sellers' play was particularly noticeable.

Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 240 pounds with tremendous arm strength and athleticism, Sellers has been likened to Anthony Richardson thanks to his unique blend of size and skill. Of course, given that Richardson has been a bust on the NFL level (at least so far), that isn't exactly the most flattering comparison anymore.

That being said, it couldn't hurt for the Steelers to take a flier on Sellers on Day 2 of the NFL Draft, especially if they are unable to find another answer under center via other means.
