The Houston Texans are entering the offseason with a solid roster, but have some gaping holes, especially on offense. They’ve been able to consistently make the playoffs with CJ Stroud, but have struggled to make a meaningful run. Their primary goal this offseason needs to be to transform from an AFC South contender to a Super Bowl contender. One way they can do that is by nailing the 2026 NFL Draft.
One of the biggest events for the Texans scouting department will be the Senior Bowl in Mobile, AL. This event allows them to get a close look at some of the top prospects in this draft. They will have the chance to meet them, watch them practice, and witness a competitive game.
There are lots of quality prospects in Mobile, but some stand out as perfect fits for the Texans. It’s imperative that they connect with these players and start to build a connection. These five players should be on their watch list as players they must keep an eye on.
Max Iheanachor- Offensive Tackle, Arizona State
Max Iheanachor didn’t start playing football until his freshman season at East Los Angeles College, a JUCO. He’s originally from Nigeria and didn’t move to the United States until he was 13 years old. Despite that, he’s got natural movement skills, stemming from his soccer background, and surprisingly great technique. Pair this with his 6-foot-5, 325-pound frame, and he becomes a potential franchise cornerstone. Iheanachor still needs to develop more power in his hands and a mauler mentality in the run game, but he is well worthy of an early-round pick.
Gennings Dunker- Guard, Iowa
Gennings Dunker played offensive tackle at Iowa, but is likely to move inside at the next level. Dunker is a mauler in the run game, looking to pancake someone on every play. He’s a farm kid at heart, and it shows with his gritty, tough playstyle. He still needs to improve in pass protection, but has shown flashes of greatness. An offensive line coach in the NFL will likely fall in love with Dunker and take him much earlier than his projections suggest.
Nicholas Singleton- Running Back, Penn State
Nicholas Singleton had an underwhelming 2025 season, but is still a talented prospect. He only had 124 carries for 546 yards and 13 touchdowns. Scouts will question his vision and his elusiveness, but his outstanding athleticism and stellar burst make him an intriguing option for teams. His performance in the Senior Bowl is paramount to his draft stock. An amazing showing will make him fly up draft boards, while a disappointing one could plummet his stock even further.
Lee Hunter- Defensive Tackle, Texas Tech
Lee Hunter is hidden on Texas Tech’s defensive line behind David Bailey and Romello Height, but is an amazing prospect. He has spectacular short-area quickness and a lightning first step that allows him to immediately beat an opposing lineman to a spot. He’s a tackle for loss machine and should be a nightmare for offensive linemen to defend in Mobile.
Lewis Bond- Wide Receiver, Boston College
Lewis Bond is one of the most underrated prospects at the Senior Bowl. He was on a struggling 2-10 Boston College team and hasn’t been discovered yet by the national media. Regardless of this, he’s such a smart route runner and has extreme burst that helps him create instant separation. Bond’s a dynamic threat after the catch and is capable of making people miss. He isn’t the most explosive athlete, but constantly makes plays.
