The Minnesota Twins are largely standing pat roster-wise thus far after missing the playoffs for two straight seasons, but ESPN's Jesse Rogers says that they still need pitching help.
"The starting staff is deep, but the Twins still need some work on their bullpen after trading from it last July," he wrote on Monday. "That's the most pressing need."
The Twins' starting rotation is headlined by 2025 All-Star Joe Ryan and 2023 All-Star Pablo Lopez. They also have 25-year-old right-hander Simeon Woods Richardson, who went 7-4 with a 4.04 ERA over 23 outings (22 starts) last season.
However, Minnesota's bullpen is nothing to write home about. The squad currently has right-hander Travis Adams (7.49 ERA over 18 outings in 2025), southpaw Kody Funderburk (3.51 ERA over 39 outings), right-hander Pierson Ohl (5.10 ERA over 14 outings), right-hander Eric Orze (3.02 ERA over 33 games), right-hander Cole Sands (4.50 ERA over 69 games), and right-hander Justin Topa (3.90 ERA over 54 games).
Other than that, the Twins could convert young starters like David Festa (5.40 ERA over 11 outings) into relievers, but adding arms from the open market is the superior option if they're interested in competing for an AL Wild Card spot next season.

Dominguez notched a 3.16 ERA over 67 combined games for the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays last season. The 31-year-old also recorded a 3.18 ERA over 12 games for the Blue Jays in the 2025 playoffs, and pitched in five games against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. He allowed just one earned run over 5.2 innings, but Toronto lost in seven games.
Dominguez has a three-year, $32.2 million market value, per Spotrac.
A cheaper option is southpaw Jalen Beeks, who notched a 3.77 ERA over 61 games for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2025. That was the first year that the 32-year-old had a sub-4.00 ERA since 2022, when he had a 2.80 mark with the Tampa Bay Rays. He has a one-year, $1 million market value, per Spotrac.
A possible reclamation project is right-hander Jose Leclerc, who pitched just 10 outings for the Athletics in 2025 after notching a 4.32 ERA over 64 outings for the Texas Rangers in 2024. However, the 32-year-old had a sub-3.00 ERA in each of the previous two seasons.
Leclerc is worth a one-year, $1.1 million deal, per Spotrac.
