This New York Yankees pitcher is suddenly starting to garner some attention.

The New York Yankees' farm system is loaded with pitching prospects, with Carlos Lagrange and Elmer Rodriguez being the most highly-touted names.

Bryce Cunningham and Ben Hess have considerable attention, too.

However, Joe Trezza of MLB.com pointed out one particular Yankees pitcher who could surprisingly become a top 100 prospect soon: Henry Lalane.

"The Yankees have several hurlers in their pitching-rich system we could mention here, but Lalane gets the nod here in part because he's one of the youngest," Trezza wrote. "It also helps that he stands 6-foot-7 and throws left-handed, helping to provide the 21-year-old a solid floor."

All of New York's other top young arms are righties, so to see a lefty finally earn some consideration is definitely refreshing.

"His ceiling is enhanced by his chance to have three plus pitches, including a fastball that can reach 97 mph," Trezza added. "He missed most of 2025 with shoulder issues, but comes with a ton of talent if he can put those in the rearview mirror."

Because of his injuries, Lalane made just seven starts last season, logging a 2.33 ERA while allowing 11 hits and registering 22 strikeouts over 19.1 innings of work.

Lalane signed with the Yankees back in 2021 and has made 44 appearances and 39 starts since, pitching to the tune of a 3.65 ERA while recording 10.1 strikeouts per nine innings. Control has bene an issue for him, with the youngster owning a lifetime 4.2 BB/9, but there is ample time for him to fix his command.

The casual fan probably hasn't even heard Lalane's name, but recently, he is beginning to generate some buzz and is absolutely a name to watch heading into 2026.

It's important to keep in mind that some of these young hurlers in New York's organization won't see the light of day with the Yanks. Some will be traded, and others simply won't materialize.

For that reason, everyone needs to be aware of the compelling prospects who aren't quite household names just yet, and Lalane is one of them.

Lalane was tabbed as the ninth-best prospect in the Yankees' system last year and is the organization's sixth-ranked pitcher.
