Jeremy Jacquet has been added to Liverpool's list of international injury woes ahead of France's clash against Belgium. The young defender has had a stellar international break with Les Bleus up to this point, but is set to miss out tonight.
Jeremy Jacquet's International Debut
Jeremy Jacquet earned his first senior France call-up this international break, marking a major milestone in his burgeoning career. New Bleus boss, Zinedine Zidane, was quick to elevate the young defender into the starting line-up, which is unsurprising given his long-held admiration of the player. Zidane's decision was immediately rewarded with Jacquet taking to international football with ease.
The Frenchman was superb in his debut, a 1-0 win over Belgium and, following France's 1-1 draw against Italy, Zidane was effusive in his praise:
"Very good. Very, very good. Brave; he wasn't afraid to come out a long way. Very good in the duels. He was, once again, very good - I've said it four times!"
Unfortunately for Jacquet, a fitness issue means that those two matches represent the totality of his debut camp with the French national team.

Originally, L'Equipe reported that Jeremy Jacquet would drop to the bench for France's match against Belgium tonight due to a minor physical problem.
However, Fabrice Hawkins, for RMC Sport, has revealed that Jacquet will not be in the French squad for the game at all - not even making the bench.
Hawkins also detailed the nature of Jacquet's issue, saying that the defender felt a strain in his left hamstring and is therefore being completely rested.
Jacquet's absence leaves Zinedine Zidane without a recognised central defender on his bench.
Author's Verdict: Liverpool Impact
It is a real shame that Jacquet doesn't get to finish off what has been a superb international debut camp, but, luckily, it seems that his fitness issue is not too serious.
Time will tell, but we can likely be hopeful of his involvement later this week against Manchester City - as long as he really does only need some rest.
If this fitness issue does end up keeping Jacquet out for an extended period, it is good timing that Giovanni Leoni is set to return to full training this week. However, it is highly unlikely that the Italian centre-half will be ready for Premier League action any time soon.
Therefore, we can only hope that it is simply rest that Jacquet needs to overcome this fitness hurdle and to be back ready for Liverpool as the international break comes to a close.
