Liverpool Handed Transfer Boost
Liverpool have been handed a potentially significant boost ahead of the January transfer window, with Bournemouth now reportedly willing to entertain offers for highly rated midfielder Alex Scott.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the Cherries have reconsidered their position following discussions with the 23-year-old's representatives, having previously rejected approaches during the summer.
BBC Sport journalist Nizaar Kinsella reports that Bournemouth could sanction a departure for approximately £100 million, although their Premier League position will influence any final decision.
For Liverpool, the development presents an opportunity. Scott has emerged as one of the Premier League's most promising young midfielders, combining technical quality with relentless energy, intelligent movement and an impressive ability to regain possession.

Having arrived at Bournemouth from Bristol City for £25 million in 2023, the England international has developed considerably, particularly under current Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola.
His statistics underline that progression. During the 2025/26 Premier League campaign, Scott registered 37 appearances, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Across the opening five league matches of 2026/27, he has already contributed another goal, completing 82% of his passes while recording nine tackles and eight interceptions.
Perhaps most impressively, Scott's influence extends well beyond traditional attacking numbers.
Sky Sports highlighted that only Elliot Anderson and André regained possession more frequently among Premier League midfielders last season, while Scott recorded 431 ball carries, approximately half of which were progressive.
Liverpool Fit
Those qualities could make him particularly attractive to Liverpool. Iraola knows exactly what the midfielder offers, having helped transform him into an energetic, tactically disciplined presence at Bournemouth.
With Liverpool looking to strengthen their midfield options following Curtis Jones' departure, Scott would offer familiarity with Iraola's demanding system alongside considerable long-term potential.

However, securing his signature would be far from straightforward. Chelsea remain firmly interested, having reportedly seen an offer worth up to £64 million rejected during the summer. Scott's current contract runs until 2028, leaving Bournemouth under no immediate obligation to sell.
There is also the complication of a thigh injury sustained during England's recent Nations League victory over Croatia, which is expected to sideline him for several weeks.
For Liverpool sporting director Julian Ward, the decision ultimately comes down to valuation.
Scott undoubtedly possesses the attributes to flourish at Anfield, and Iraola's relationship with the midfielder could provide a valuable advantage.
But at £100 million, Liverpool would be investing in potential as much as proven elite-level output.
The opportunity may finally be presenting itself. Whether Liverpool are prepared to pay the price is another question entirely.
