Ajax are expected to be in the market for a new right-winger heading into the final weeks of the summer transfer window.

Can Michel succeed at Ajax?More Videos

Ajax are preparing for a hectic end to the summer transfer window, after what has already been a very busy few months for the Amsterdammers.

Marc-André ter Stegen's transfer to Ajax has finally been confirmed, bringing a lengthy saga to a conclusion. In addition to Ter Stegen, Ajax have also signed Caio Henrique, Daley Blind, Tolu Arokodare, Marcos Leonardo and Julian Brandt.

Ajax sold Sean Steur to Premier League outfit Newcastle United in a deal which could rise to €27 million. Ajax could earn a significant transfer fee for another player before the window closes, with Paris Saint-Germain pushing hard to sign Mika Godts.

The Parisians' opening bid of €45 million was rejected by Ajax, with Jordi Cruijff seeking a transfer fee in excess of €60 million.

In the event Godts does leave, it is expected Ajax will sign potentially up to five more players. Ajax have been linked to Jofre Torrents, a 19-year-old left-back from Barcelona. A new defensive midfielder is also a top priority, and Ajax are working on a deal to bring Edson Álvarez back to the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Initial talks have also been held over signing Napoli winger Noa Lang as a possible replacement for Godts, should the Belgian winger indeed depart.

Ajax want a new right-winger and right-back

Ajax also want to strengthen their right-hand side this month, with both a right-back and right-winger being targeted by the club.

According to Lentin Goodijk of Voetbal International, Ajax wants to sign a winger who can hold the width, dominate in one-on-one situations and create chances.

The report claims that Steven Berghuis is not seen as a 'pure winger', and Maher Carrizo, who joined Ajax in January, still needs time to become an important figure in the team.

Should Anton Gaaei leave, Ajax would be interested in a right-back. The fact that Michel wants a right winger who can hold the width means Ajax are interested in signing a right-back who can stay deeper, help in build-up and act as the third central defender on the ball. Goodijk reports that Ajax are considering a number of players for that role.

Eintracht Frankfurt were very interested in Gaaei, but are currently not pushing to sign him. Ajax, however, believes they can still receive a decent transfer fee for him.

Are Ajax interested in Van Rooij?

ESPN reported that Ajax were interested in FC Twente's Bart van Rooij as a potential option to strengthen the right-back position. Van Rooij suits the desired profile of being able to become the third centre-back when his team has the ball.

The report claimed that Ajax found Twente's €10 million asking price to be excessive, but hoped to reach an agreement with the club from Enschede.

However, various reports have since claimed that Ajax are not considering a move for the Twente right-back.
