Michel has opened up on what Ajax will do in the transfer market should Mika Godts depart.
Ajax began their Eredivisie season with a 0-2 away victory against PEC Zwolle.
Mika Godts was supposed to start but ended up starting on the bench after he felt some discomfort during the warm-up. Godts was brought on for the last half an hour and provided the assist for Julian Brandt's first Ajax goal.
Whether that was Godts' last minutes in an Ajax shirt remains to be seen. Paris Saint-Germain are pushing hard to sign the Belgian winger, and already have an agreement on personal terms over a long-term contract in Paris.
There is still, however, no agreement between the clubs. PSG's first offer of €45 million was swiftly rejected by Ajax, and they are likely to return with a bid of around €55 million, including bonuses. Ajax are said to want at least €60 million, and super agent Jorge Mendes is negotiating on their behalf.
In the event of Godts' departure, Ajax will be very active towards the end of the window. The Amsterdammers have identified Noa Lang as one of their top targets to replace the Belgian, and initial talks around a deal have taken place.
Michel wants two wingers if Godts leaves
In his post-match press conference on Sunday afternoon, Michel revealed that he wants two wingers in Godts' leaves.
"If Mika leaves, we need two new wingers," Michel said.
"Not only for the left flank, but also for the right zone. Because you know, of course, that Steven Berghuis is not the type of player who brings much depth.
We need those qualities. So if Mika leaves, we need to sign two wingers."
Could Ajax sign Bardghji?
One player who has been linked to Ajax is Roony Bardghji. The Barcelona winger is expected to depart the La Liga champions before the transfer window closes.
He joined Barcelona last summer from Copenhagen, but only played 641 minutes in La Liga, scoring one goal and assisting one other. Due to the fact that he didn't play much last season, Barcelona are prepared to let him go in order to get regular minutes.
It's unclear whether he will leave on loan or on a permanent transfer, but should he leave permanently, Barcelona would want to include a buy-back clause in the deal, as per various reports.
Bardghji can hold the width, but can also play in the right half-space. He is a left-footed right-winger. The Swedish talent is an excellent dribbler and is also very creative. His crosses are quite accurate.
While he hasn't proven himself yet, Ajax could be the ideal move for his development. He is highly regarded by many in the industry and could develop into a quality player. One sticking point in negotiations over a permanent transfer could be the buy-back clause the Spanish club want to include, but it's probable that Ajax would agree to that if the number is high enough.
