Paris Saint-Germain are working on a deal to sign Mika Godts from Ajax.

The Parisians reportedly have an agreement with Godts on a long-term contract, but are yet to reach an agreement with Ajax over a transfer.

PSG's opening bid for Godts was worth €45 million: €40 million guaranteed plus €5 million in easily achievable bonuses. Ajax rejected that bid, with reports claiming Ajax want in excess of €60 million for the Belgian winger.

Despite the ongoing talks, Godts played for Ajax on Thursday night against Shelbourne FC in UEFA Conference League qualifying. Godts played well and scored a penalty, although he also missed one in the second half.

Ajax have begun work on potential replacements for Godts, with Noa Lang one of the club's top targets. Ajax have held talks over a potential deal, and Napoli would reportedly want €25 million to sell him this summer, just one year after they bought him from PSV Eindhoven. Ajax could also explore a loan deal for the Dutchman.

PSG prepare new bid for Godts

Despite having their opening bid rejected, PSG have not given up on signing Godts and are now expected to return with an improved bid for the winger.

According to De Telegraaf, PSG are preparing to submit an improved bid of €50-55 million for Godts.

De Telegraaf also reports that super-agent Jorge Mendes is conducting negotiations with PSG on behalf of Ajax. Mendes offered his services five months ago and will only be paid if he secures the desired transfer fee.

It is unclear exactly how much Ajax want for Godts, but a total package of €60-65 million has been mentioned. If that is the case, PSG's bid would once again fall short of Ajax's valuation, although the gap is becoming smaller.

Diomande deal strengthens Ajax's position

Given the current state of the market, €65-70 million would be a fair deal for Godts. At only 21 years of age, he managed 17 goals and 12 assists in the Eredivisie last season, while playing in a very dysfunctional Ajax team.

Godts is creative but also poses a goal threat and is a brilliant dribbler. He has the qualities to become one of the best wingers in the world.

Yan Diomande is also set to join Real Madrid in a deal which could rise to €140 million if all bonuses are reached. While Diomande is an excellent player, he has only ever scored 15 career goals in professional football and has only ever had one standout season in the Bundesliga.

Diomande's ceiling is very high, and Madrid are paying for potential, but if he is worth €140 million, Ajax are well within their rights to ask for a total package of close to €70 million for Godts, especially so close to the start of the Eredivisie season.
