Ajax are looking to strengthen their right wing this month, and a Barcelona youngster is said to be high on their shortlist.
Ajax's main priority for the rest of the transfer window will be signing a new defensive midfielder, but the Amsterdammers will also look to bolster their attack should Mika Godts leave.
Paris Saint-Germain are trying to sign Godts and have agreed personal terms with the winger. PSG's opening bid of €45 million was turned down, and Ajax are seeking a fee in excess of €60 million. Despite the gap in valuation, the Parisians are expected to return with a second offer for the Belgian.
In the event Godts does indeed depart, Noa Lang is high on Ajax's shortlist of possible replacements. Ajax have held initial talks over a potential deal, and the Napoli winger is reportedly keen on a return to Amsterdam. Napoli are said to want €25 million, but a loan deal, with the option to make it permanent next summer, has also been mentioned.
A right winger is also on Ajax's wishlist, and selling Godts would give Ajax the financial resources to sign a player in that position. Michel reportedly wants a winger who can hold the width and dominate one-on-one situations. This would mean that if Anton Gaaei leaves, Ajax would then target a right-back who can stay deeper, become a third centre-back in possession and help with build-up.
Ajax eye move for Bardghji
Ajax have already begun work on a new right winger, and the club has started drawing up a shortlist of potential targets.
According to SPORT, Ajax will explore the possibility of making a bid for Roony Bardghji, should Godts indeed leave for Paris Saint-Germain.
The Swedish winger's preference was a loan with the possibility of returning to Barcelona next season, but the Catalan club believes a permanent sale is the best option. Should he be sold, Barcelona would want to include a buy-back clause in the deal.
Due to the fact that Barcelona want a permanent sale, Ajax had ruled Bardghji out as an option, but should Godts leave, the money earned from his sale could make signing Bardghji on a permanent transfer financially feasible for Ajax.
Hansi Flick has been very pleased with Bardghji during pre-season, but the German manager made it clear that his playing time would be very limited following the signings of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund and Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United.
Clubs from the Premier League have also shown interest, and Olympique Marseille have also made enquiries about the 20-year-old winger.
Ajax expected to sign Torrents
Ajax have been in talks with Barcelona quite frequently this summer. The club signed Marc-André ter Stegen on loan for one year, and in addition to Bardghji, Jordi Cruijff is also working to sign another Barcelona youngster.
Ajax are now also closing in on a deal to sign 19-year-old left-back Jofre Torrents on loan from Barcelona. It had previously been reported that Ajax were interested in signing Torrents on loan with an option to buy, and the report from SPORT claims that Torrents is expected to move to the Eredivisie on loan.
Torrents' arrival means Owen Wijndal could depart Ajax this summer. Ajax have been open to selling the former AZ full-back this summer and are awaiting suitable offers.
