Binance CEO CZ reported earlier today that the company has recovered nearly $6 million of the $600 million stolen from the recent hack on the Ronin Network.
Today, April 22nd, CZ told inTwitter that a group of hackers behind the largest exploit in the DeFi arena has begun to transfer some of the stolen funds.
Part of this stolen money was transferred to Binance and distributed across 86 accounts, but Binance blocked the transfers and got the money back.
The CEO of Binance told that his company has done many somewhat similar situations in other situations.
There was a similar incident (but much less stolen money) in 2020 when attackers sent money to Binance and a few other trading platforms from hacking against Eterbase.
The attackers stole 173,600 ETH and $25.5 million, with a total value of more than $600 million at the time.
Later, the FBI confirmed initial rumors that the “Lazarus Group,” a North Korean government-backed hacking organization, was behind the exploit.
