Brentford could face a growing battle to keep Michael Kayode this summer after Italian outlet La Stampa reported that the right-back is now drawing attention from several bigger clubs. A report from La Stampa has stated that Kayode “appeals to the big clubs”, with Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Tottenham all said to be following the 21-year-old with interest. Borussia Dortmund are also named as a club watching his progress.
It is still a notable development around a player Brentford moved quickly to secure on a permanent deal less than a year ago. The club signed Kayode on loan from Fiorentina in January 2025 with an option to buy, then confirmed in May that the move had been made permanent on a contract running until 2030, with an option for a further year.
Kayode has settled quickly in west London and has become a regular part of Brentford’s side, with the Premier League’s official site listing 28 appearances this season. La Stampa also said he is waiting to see whether his progress in England leads to a first senior Italy call-up, which underlines how his profile has grown back home since the move from Serie A.
There had already been signs of Italian interest before La Stampa’s latest report. Earlier this month, Tuttosport said Juventus were monitoring Kayode ahead of the summer window and that Brentford would likely want around €30 million before entering serious negotiations. That report was narrower and more club-specific. The significance of the La Stampa line is that it broadens the picture, suggesting that Kayode is now being viewed as a defender attracting attention from across the Premier League and abroad.
For Brentford, though, this is not yet a situation that demands alarm. Kayode is under a long contract, the club hold the option of an extra year, and that leaves them in a strong position if interest does build over the coming months. Brentford were clear when they made the move permanent that he was highly valued internally, with director of football Phil Giles saying the defender had been “fantastic” both in his performances and in the energy he had brought to the group.
What the reports suggest is that Kayode’s name is now moving more forcefully through the market, with attention no longer limited to Italy. Brentford may soon have to deal with a wider transfer race around one of their most promising young players.
