Partnering 101

What is Partnering?

Partnering was introduced with Version 4.0.1 as a replacement to the Whitelist system. Board owners and their teams can choose to make a member a Partner in order to allow them to share in the board's revenue.

Board owners are incentivized to Partner their top contributors in order to encourage further support and contribution towards the board. Partnered members have access to view board revenue information, the ability to run ad campaigns, and earn 100% of the revenue from published posts.

How are Partners selected?

In order to qualify for Engagement Mining approval, board owners must whitelist high quality, top contributors to their boards. Boards not seeking approval into the Engagement Mining program can maintain their Partner list as they see fit, as this requirement only applies for Engagement Mining.

Engagement and discussion around contributions (posts, comments, etc) can also be considered as part of the contribution itself. Even a simple post with a link to a video, article, etc could be considered a top contribution if it sparks meaningful engagement and discussion relevant to the board's topic & goals.

How are Partners selected on METABBS?

As with other boards, only top contributors are invited to become a Partner. Partners should have a full understanding of the METABBS goal, outlined in the Extended Guidelines:

The goal of METABBS is to cultivate healthy and productive discussion of the BBS Network as a whole. Discussions around platform mechanics, DAO proposals, development direction, future features, suggestions, feedback, and more are welcome and encouraged.

Top contributors for METABBS are determined by a variety of factors, including published post quality, promoted post quality, quality of engagement around comments & posts, and general contribution towards the METABBS goal.

As it's not feasible for one person to review all contributions, Partnering on METABBS is handled by the entire team. Admins and moderators of METABBS monitor board contributions, and record exceptional content and members for further review.

While there is no guarantee of becoming a Partner, there are some basic requirements to be considered:

  • Must be actively contributing to METABBS*- Posts or comments at least weekly
  • Have a history of contribution
  • Must spark meaningful discussion or engagement with submitted contributions- Submitted comments or posts should lead to meaningful discussion
  • The majority of submissions should contribute value towards the METABBS goal

*Contributions prior to 4.0.1 are considered, but contributors must still be active to be invited

There are many ways to contribute to a board, and contributors of many kinds are considered. Some ways to contribute to a board include:

  • Publishing quality, on-topic posts
  • Creating meaningful comments that spark discussion
  • Sharing engaging content that sparks meaningful discussion (relevant links/articles/videos about the board’s topic)
  • Creating useful tools, exceptional designs, or other notable contributions

Please remember that only top contributors for the board will be invited to become a Partner, and being invited to become a Partner is not guaranteed. Partners who stop meeting qualitative requirements, or those who abuse their status, will be removed from the program.

As only top contributors are invited, the majority of members will not be invited to become a Partner. As such it's recommended to only contribute to METABBS out of genuine interest in the board’s topic and its discussion.
