We have some exciting news for everyone today as we approve new boards for Engagement Mining!

We recently updated the Engagement Mining Criteria & Application post, and recommend checking it out for any owner interested in applying:

Requirements

To be considered for Engagement Mining approval, boards must meet the following qualifications and apply via the linked post above.

Related stories

  • BBS must focus around a popular topic.- A good measurement for a topic’s popularity would be the engagement it generates in similar platforms
  • On-topic Posts (at least 10 posts by unique users)- Meta-posts (posts about the board or community rather than its topic) are not counted
  • BBS consistently generates high-quality on-topic discussion&nbsp;- A good comparison would be top subreddits on similar topics&nbsp;- Top posts on the board should generate high-quality discussion
  • BBS only partners high-quality, top contributing members&nbsp;- Top contributors are measured according to their reputation, quality of their posts and comments.&nbsp;
  • BBS monitors and mitigates any fraudulent activity, and maintains a healthy activity distribution
  • BBS must reflect well on the BBS Network

Further details around these requirements can be found in this post. Boards are required to maintain these requirements to maintain their approval, and some boards will also be removed in this transition.

Please note that changes to Engagement Mining approvals will take effect with the next automated distribution, tomorrow.

Newly Approved Boards

In this transition three boards are being approved for Engagement Mining after meeting all qualifications.

Removed Boards

We will also be removing five boards no longer meeting qualifications:

  • GOLDEN
  • CGAMING
  • LUNATKS
  • MCFCOIN
  • BBSKR

Each of the removed boards no longer meets meaningful discussion or unique post requirements. Removed boards can reapply for Engagement Mining approval again once criteria is met.

Pending Boards

Many previous applicants do not currently meet required unique posts for approval, however some boards have reached the required unique post requirements, but were not maintaining other criteria for Engagement Mining approval.

To be approved for Engagement Mining, all listed criteria must be met and maintained. The boards that met minimum unique post requirements yet were denied for other reasons are listed below:

SATIVA

SATIVA was able to maintain required unique posts for consideration, and was able to host  meaningful discussion on the board.

However SATIVA currently is not maintaining a healthy activity distribution for the board, as over 78% of recent activity, such as impressions, were generated by only 10 of the board’s members, mostly being part of the SATIVA team itself - including the majority of meaningful discussion. This activity distribution is not sustainable for the Engagement Mining program.

Once healthy activity distribution is maintained then the board can be reconsidered for approval.

INDFAM

INDFAM was able to maintain required unique posts for consideration, but was not able to reach significant meaningful discussion on the board at this time.

Once the board is seen to be consistently generating meaningful discussion and engagement, the board can be reconsidered for approval.

BBSMATE

BBSMATE was able to maintain required unique posts for consideration, but was not able to reach significant meaningful discussion on the board at this time.

Once the board is seen to be consistently generating meaningful discussion and engagement, the board can be reconsidered for approval.

Future of Engagement Mining (Pilot Phase)

Moving forward, Engagement Mining transitions will happen bi-monthly, or every other month. During transitions we will approve qualifying boards and remove boards who are consistently not meeting requirements.

With these steps we look towards the future of Engagement Mining, and lay the foundation of the application and decision process for eventual DAO control. After the Engagement Mining pilot phase, all Engagement Mining decisions such as approval criteria, board removals, etc will be determined by the DAO. We hope to create a solid foundation that the DAO can build from to push the Engagement Mining program to its maximum potential through decentralization.
