Thor: The Dark World (2013) | Nattosheru ReviewHello superhero lovers. Today I want to tell you about the sequel and direct continuation of "Thor", as well as the eighth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, this sequel to the famous superhero managed to surpass its predecessor at the box office. Although its success was remarkable, the critics at the time were very mixed, praising on the one hand the special effects and the incredible performance of Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston, but also criticizing both its story and its villain. Among other well-known actors, this film features Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins. Another superhero movie full of action, fantasy and adventure with the beloved Thor, the God of Thunder (but the one from Marvel Comics).
Thor: The Dark World (2013)Plot
The movie begins shortly after the events that took place in the movie "The Avengers" with Loki chained in front of Odin sitting on the throne of Asgard where he is on trial for his war crimes he committed on Earth. On the other hand, Thor finds himself with his old war buddies in a battle with some marauders in order to maintain order with the Nine Worlds. However, when he arrives home, he learns that an event that has been happening in the universe for thousands of years will soon take place. This event is called "The Convergence", which is an exceptional alignment between these nine worlds.
When this event occurs, several portals appear that connect with these Nine Worlds, of which one of them takes Dr. Jane Foster to another place, after leaving in search of his father who is missing and with certain problems. Thor, upon learning of this, goes in search of Jane to Earth, where she appears as if nothing, after 5 hours missing. She is upset with him when she sees that they had not seen each other for years and unleashes a supernatural power. With this, Thor takes her to Asgard in search of help to see what is happening to her, whereupon Odin her father tells her that she possesses the Ether in her body, which is a source of energy that can cause great wear and tear and destruction in the universe.
Trailer & Review
Next, I will leave you the trailer of the movie:
Before I give my opinion of this movie, which I have seen very little, actually, compared to the previous seven movies I have talked about from Marvel Studios, I want to point out the review this sequel got at the time. When it was released, many thought it was "the worst superhero movie" of the franchise, until the following sequels arrived to change their minds. Compared to the first installment, this film has a very dark tone, as well as a story and a villain that does not really stand out. Although the humor is noticeable in certain moments, it is not so outstanding, compared to the following installments of the God of Thunder.
Honestly, while Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston's performances are very standout, especially Tom's part as Loki in showing us what many at the time could say was a transition from being a very dangerous villain to a resentful and regretful older brother on the inside. We also get to know a little more about the feelings they both have, as well as certain moments in which we can easily feel susceptible to them. On the other hand, the appearance and participation that the villain has in this movie is one of the things that I disliked the most, as I feel that he didn't have a convincing enough development or introduction.

Among other things, the special effects are another detail to highlight, as it has very good visual effects and CGI, much better than many Marvel Studios movies that have recently come out. And this can be highlighted, above all, in the battle scenes. The soundtrack is very good, too, with a dark and heavy style, conveying a much more dramatic atmosphere than the first one and much more than the following parts. But, far from all this, not much is going to stand out from this movie, starting with the fact that its protagonist is one of the least favorite superheroes for this server.
If I were to mention something I really liked about this movie, it was the ending, which I liked a lot and gave way to the third Thor movie. And Loki was a character that, as always, has stood out in this film, where we can see on several occasions a side of this controversial character that we have not seen before. Finally, I must mention that seeing Anthony Hopkins playing Odin in this sequel is imposing, as he keeps very well the role of King or Father that he shows from the beginning, also Natalia Portman stands out much more in this film, having part of the leading role in certain moments, but not as much as in the following films.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8/10 as far as the action, fantasy and superhero genre is concerned.
Tell me, have you seen this movie, what did you think of it? You can leave me your answer in the comments.

All the best.
