I predict that for best original song in the 2024 Oscars, the winner will be

What was I made for, from Barbie.

I think this will be the winner for a few reasons:

1. Competition: The Ken song is absolutely terrible, why is it even there?! The Flower Moon song is very niche (though may be popular purely for points covered in point 3). The American Symphony is a nice and well composed song, but certainly not a banger and not musically appealing to a large audience. The Flamin' Hot song is, admittedly a bit of a banger, but, What was I made for ticks many more boxes because it appeals to quite a broad audience.

2. Choice of singer: So the audience base as mentioned for the song itself is even greater than the movie! Billie Eilish is a huge star who herself has a very large and diverse audience. She has a really beautiful voice and this song is a little different from much of her chart success in the UK. So the song itself would attract even those like myself who never watched the whole movie.šŸ˜… Lyrically, you can easily remove the concept of Barbie from the song and then it applies to anyone (even men 🤪) who have ever questioned their purpose in life, felt like they have lost their way, have felt used by someone else, doesn't know how to feel about their life, questions their relationships or even friendships, feels depressed, is waiting for life to begin or for the right person to come along, and many other relatable feelings.

"I think I forgot how to be happy, something i'm not, but something I can be, something I wait for.. something i'm made for".

3. Popular Woke Feminism. The song itself also attracts the Feminists and the Woke crowd who love to get on any gender bandwagon and politicise even the most basic boring shit. They love the song for how it presents all women as Barbie, wondering why they are here, if it is only to serve men or another purpose 🄱

"Just something you paid for.. what was I made for"

Of course these political ideologies are very popular in the West the past few years and it is seen especially with decisions elsewhere to remove even separate awards for me and woman šŸ˜… (while also then complaining that only men won the non-gendered awards 🤣) which you would think goes against Feminism, but apparently doesn't, and in the trend to focus on more minorities in film such as female directors, and topics/actors from Western minority ethnicities. Therefore, anything related to Barbie is an easy vote winner when trying to appeal to these sorts of audiences and in making the film industry appear much more diverse, accessible and accomodating than it actually is.

4. Merit: All of these points make it sound like this song will win purely because it is a "good" choice to win, or really the only obvious choice. While I think that is true, I do actually like the song and think it is a good standalone song by Billie Eilish, and could (should) win on merit alone.
