You might remember an Irish Goodbye? I made a post about it several months ago
Actor James Martin, who has Down Syndrome, won a BAFTA, an OSCAR and an IFTA (and also a Guinness world record as the first to do so!) for his sensational role in An Irish Goodbye. He was exceptionally funny and played the role perfectly, but did make me wonder if it was okay to laugh at grief or disability.
James has broken the glass ceiling for disabled actors, especially in Northern Ireland, and has now been awarded an MBE in the King's New Year Honours list for 2024.
Congrats to him, it is so well deserved.
