Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) | Nattosheru ReviewHello superhero fans. Today I want to talk to you about the tenth movie of the huge and renowned Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the first of three installments where we will meet one of the most curious and funniest groups of heroes in the world of cinema. This adaptation inspired by the work of the Marvel Comics eponymous group has been very much loved and well appreciated by critics and audiences, both for its humor and for its characters, soundtrack, action scenes and special effects. The film was produced by Marvel Studios, of course, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. It was directed by the famous genius James Gunn, who also participated in writing the screenplay; and the cast includes Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel.
Guardians of the GalaxyPlot
The film introduces us to Peter Quill, a young member of the huge group of space pirates known as the Devastators, which are led by the great Yondu Udonta. Peter has been abducted by some of these pirates as a child and has since grown up and been raised with them. One day he goes in search of an Orb on the planet Morag, where he manages to steal it only to be intercepted by Korath the Pursuer, who works with Ronan the Accuser (what names these people have). Quill escapes to later be sought by the same devastators due to a reward that Yondu has placed on his name. On the other hand, Ronan sends Gamora, who in the galaxy is known to be the daughter of the fearsome titan Thanos, to look for him as well and thus recover the Orb.
On Xandar, home of the Nova Corps, Peter seeks to sell the Orb but is ambushed by Gamora who fights with him, which attracts the attention of two bounty hunters: a genetically modified raccoon named Rocket Racoon and a tree-like humanoid named Groot. The commotion caused by this curious group causes the Nova Corps to capture them and take him to jail, where he encounters a powerful prisoner named Drax the Destroyer who wishes to assassinate Gamora for being related to Ronan, who wiped out his family and home planet. However, Quill dissuades him from doing so and convinces him to join him and the others in search of a way to be able to break out of Kylin's prison.
Trailer & Review
Below, I'll leave you with the trailer for the movie:
For not being one of my favorite superhero movies, I must admit, without a doubt, that it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. And I say this not only because of the enormous amount of special effects and well done CGI it has, but also because of the story, the characters and the way in which the great James Gunn unites all this with a humor and a unique and incomparable style. I am also fascinated by how the soundtrack plays an important role throughout the film, as does each of the members of this curious group called the "Guardians of the Galaxy". For a movie that I did not expect at all, I was quite fascinated, you can even say that it is among the best that Marvel Studios has decided to do in recent decades.
The introduction and presentation that the movie gives us with Peter Quill as the main character is both funny and at the same time curious and fascinating. His origin, the early loss of his mother, his abduction, his existence in the galaxy and his way of doing things makes you identify quite a bit with him; that's not to mention his "amazing personality" being a funny yet resourceful guy to escape and always get away with it. He is not the typical protagonist or invincible hero with a character development so complicated to understand, he is just a human being living in a huge galaxy. He doesn't even consider himself a hero or a good person until the end of the movie. This, along with the other characters and members of this curious group make the success of this film has obviously been huge as it completely breaks the mold of the typical superhero movies known.

The performance of each and every one of the cast members of this film is completely admirable, as none of them needed more than a couple of minutes to draw attention with their excellent interpretations. Starting with Chris Pratt, who with his role as Peter Quill gets a huge merit, there is also Zoe Saldaña who plays Gamora, a strong and skilled but also dangerous girl. On the other hand we have the great Vin Diesel, which is a surprise for me to be the voice of Groot (which is not seen to have been a difficult job), a character that can be both kind and innocent as well as dangerous and quite powerful. Bradley Cooper plays the voice of Rocket, a cocky and unlikeable character who is only interested in money and guns but who underneath proves to be a bit more complex than he appears to be in the end. These and many other characters make this one of the best casts I've seen in a movie.
Then, there are the visual effects, the special effects and the sound effects, all of which are a perfect and necessary complement to this film that gives a modern and spatial touch to this great trip. This film takes us to several worlds, getting to know the enormous galaxy and its varied societies. The presence of powerful and dangerous beings such as Ronan the Accuser and the titan Thanos give us an idea of how dangerous this galaxy can be, which is in a constant struggle of good and evil, for power. And the most interesting thing is that the plot connects very well with the other movies of this extensive Marvel Studios universe, which at this stage went beyond space to introduce us to a series of events that we will talk about in other movies, later on. For the moment, this cinematic masterpiece made by the great James Gunn and the huge house of superheroes is one of those films that you have to see at least once in your life.
Personally, I give it a rating of 8.5/10 as far as the adventure, science fiction, fantasy and action genre is concerned.
Tell me, have you seen this movie, what did you think of it? You can leave me your answer in the comments.

All the best.
