For another season, Real Madrid answers its appointment with the Champions League quarterfinals. In the last 10 seasons, it only stayed out of the round before the semifinals in the 2018/19 and 2019/20 campaigns. It is a staple, and the first to know this are the directors of the white club, who, in the budget for the current fiscal year, again pointed to the quarterfinals as the minimum objective to cover in the competition, and they have achieved it again.
Everything that may come, starting with the quarterfinals, will be an extra item added to the income statement. Remember that the white team is the only one that has always been present since the competition system was changed to include the preliminary group stage in the tournament's round of 16.
Sporting success brings with it economic stability, or at least helps toward it. What does the presence in the quarterfinals mean? Well, Real Madrid, considering all possible variables, has already secured, solely through sporting merits, around €100 million in revenue from its participation in the Champions League, as happened in the previous campaign.
In the previous fiscal year, the team, then led by Ancelotti, managed to earn €101 million for reaching the quarterfinals, to which must be added the revenue from ticket sales, which in knockout stage Champions matches is around €10 million per game, so it approached €150 million from all concepts.
Real Madrid already has a total of €63.1 million for what has been done on the pitch so far in 2025/26. €36.6 million for its ninth place in the league phase. €11 million for the round of 16 and another €12.5 million for reaching the quarterfinals. To this must be added the revenue from ticket sales at the six matches already played.
Remember that, in addition to what has been achieved through purely sporting merits in UEFA's Champions distribution, one must add what has been done in the last 10 years and the team's value in the "market pool," which is the audiovisual value of each country. This index is higher or lower depending on the number of teams from a country in the final rounds. With more teams to share, the money will be less.
