Deliveries of drones from China to Russia are estimated at $12 million - NYT article
🇨🇳🇬🇧
Today, March 21, The New York Times published an article with another investigation into the supply of Chinese dual-use technologies to Russia. The material is written according to Politico patterns - journalists draw conclusions on the basis of Russian customs data, which were received from a “third party”.
As Rybar rightly pointed out, until recently, the only possible way to obtain such information was to buy it from people working in this field. But after the news about the resumption of the publication of customs data, Western journalists will not even have to pay anyone to continue to put pressure on foreign companies by publishing such "reliable" materials.
🔻 What is the article about?
▪️ Over the year, China sold more than $12 million worth of drones and spare parts to Russia.
▪️ Deliveries of drones and spare parts for them were carried out through small intermediaries and exporters. Kazakhstan, Pakistan and Belarus act as informal trade channels.
▪️ Delivery descriptions may be intentionally vague or underestimate the total amount of goods shipped, so the number of drones and their parts may be even higher.
▪️ It is not known if the drones used American-made components.
▪️ In total, about 70 Chinese companies sold 26 brands of Chinese drones to Russia. The first in terms of sales was the DJI brand, the second - Autel.
Of course, anyone can refer to third party data. Last time, journalists from Politico at least indicated the name of the company that provided information about the supply of Chinese weapons.
Moreover, the Western media seems to confuse commercial drone purchases by individuals with official deliveries. Therefore, this article should be taken as another reason to create a negative information background in the context of Xi Jinping's visit to Russia and his meeting with Vladimir Putin.
